| Dear Valued Reader,
I would like to take this
opportunity to personally welcome you to TeenSpeak Online. The website you
are visiting today is the culmination of many month's work by several
people, and our work is only beginning. The dedicated staff here at
TeenSpeak are currently working hard
to improve every piece of this website, from the layout, to the graphics,
to the content, and we will continue to do so for the foreseeable
future.
TeenSpeak began really as a vision, a vision for a place
where teenagers are free to learn about other's opinions on today's
current events, and are free to generate and explore their own. To
maintain the professional atmosphere of the journalism on this website,
the editorial staff and I work hard to proofread and perfect every last
piece of work that comes to us, whether from staff writers or in the form
of letters from the public. In other words, we are not a blog, and try
hard to keep it that way.
I am currently a sophomore in high school, and have been
involved in many political and current events based activities in the
past, and continuing on today. Currently, I have been writing editorials
for the school newspaper on a variety of issues, some of which may also be
published on this website. To further pursue my interest in journalism, I
have applied to and been accepted to participate in a training and
certification course for PEARL World Youth News. I believe this to be a
really great opportunity for teenagers interested in journalism from all
over the world to meet and discuss important issues in the world today, as
well as gain valuable experience. For more information on this important program,
visit www.iEARN.org. In addition, I am an active competitor in a
nation-wide model business program for high school students, known as DECA.
At the state level, my partner and I received an honorable mention for our
work on the economics and product knowledge test, and were finalists in
both the written and verbal events we participated in. I thoroughly enjoy
history and public speaking, and am privileged to combine the two on my
school's Model United Nations team, where I serve as a delegate. Finally,
I participate in an after-school fitness club, and play tennis several
times a week in my free time. I am also a member of my school's tennis
team.
At TeenSpeak, we are always looking for new volunteers,
advisors, designers, journalists, and publishers, and your experience and
dedication would be warmly welcomed by our existing staff. Please, visit
our Join Us! page and fill out an application.
The application you will fill out is an important first step in joining
our organization, as it will let me know your interest, and a little bit
about yourself. I try to contact every applicant within a few days, so you
should expect to hear from me shortly. However, it is important to
remember that we are not able to accept every applicant, based on a
variety of reasons including availability and geography.
I would also like to extend a statement of appreciation
to Jojo Sinker and Justin Yap, the other two founding members and managing
editors.
Please, feel free to contact myself or any other staff
member either using my e-mail,
editor@teenspeakonline.com,
or through the submission of a Contact Us form available here.
Happy Reading!
Sincerely yours,
Victor Rudo
Editor-In-Chief
