To every
faithful TSO reader, old and new:
Let me begin by thanking you for your interest in current events that you
display to us every time you log onto this site. Your dedication and
feedback helps us in more ways than imaginable; without readers and
contributors we are nothing. TeenSpeak Online is a forum—a place where
teenagers can speak their minds freely and openly, and discuss issues
pertinent to the world around us. Many people our age have stopped caring
about politics and party lines; rather than picking up a newspaper, many
young people choose to purchase glossies like Us Weekly or Star Magazine,
thus deeming Brangelina's relationship more important than foreign policy.
Needless to say, this dilemma speaks volumes about today's society. By
logging on to this website, you are committing yourself to an almost lost
intelligence that is invaluable in order to be an informed citizen.
When Victor started this site with the other editors he had a vision, and I
can confidently say that I believe this vision has been accomplished and can
only grow larger. With the restructuring of our new site underway, I am
pleased to announce that we will continue with a renewed focus on the
quality and accuracy of every article submitted for publishing. As Managing
Editor for Content and Senior Director, I will strive to consistently
represent all types of opinions and beliefs in every piece published, and
will encourage a diversity of materials to be covered. Not to mention the
quality of our reporting will remain, as always, steady and reliable. The
impeccable amount of attention put into our articles, letters, and opinion
pieces is the core of TSO; it is what continually helps us to maintain the
essence of quality and ethics that we practice by. I am proud to be a member
of TSO, and have nothing but praise for the hard work and dedication every
staff writer and editor puts into TeenSpeak, on top of the trials and
tribulations of being a high school student.
I myself am a junior in high school, almost a senior actually, as it is my
third trimester as I write this. As the daughter of very politically active
parents, I was raised to always question things; to have a constant need for
knowledge. I believe TSO supports this philosophy in more ways than one. At
school I write for our newspaper, and am the Junior Editor of our periodical
style & arts magazine, Girl Talk. I am also an enthusiastic member of our
Model United Nations Team, amongst other organizations such as Operation
Smile, our school's Diversity Committee, and our Business Club. In addition,
I am the Teen Editor of
www.Splendora.com, a fashion and culture website based out of San
Francisco. Like our other editors, I have always had a strong interest in
journalism and plan to possibly pursue it as a career. The
PEARL World Youth News journalism certification course is a wonderful
educational opportunity for those interested in becoming a journalist, or
the field of journalism itself, and after completing the necessary training,
I too am a certified PEARL Journalist. I highly recommend the program to
anyone with even a hint of interest in journalism, or those just looking for
ways to better express their opinions.
Other than participating in school organizations and publications, I
am a member of my school's tennis
team, and art history is currently my favorite subject in school.
I have a huge interest in
fashion and the arts
and hope to one day work in
the industry.
Along with journalistic writing, I have a passion for creative writing and
have had my short stories published in various student anthologies. Overall,
I am interested in anything and everything,
and always feel there is more to learn and more to know—hence why Teen Speak
is the perfect place for someone like me.
I urge you to take a look around our website and fill out an application by
going to the
Join Us! page. Because our basis of writing is current events, we're
always searching for new and interesting people to become involved with the
site. Fresh
opinions are always welcome,
and
new ideas are constantly in demand
to create the diverse discussion environment we desire.
Before I end, I'd like to give a huge congratulations to Victor and Jonathon
for the incredible job they have been doing and continue to do at
as we progress into a new era here
at Teen Speak Online.
I am so proud of all of our
participants for
being brave enough to express their opinions to the public, and eagerly
anticipate the upcoming months as we transform into an even more credible
source of national and international news.
Please feel free to contact me by my staff email,
afeldman@teenspeakonline.com,
or through a Contact Us form available
here.
Keep up the reading, and always, always question the things around
you.
Sincerely yours,
Ariel Feldman
