While there are many international crises in the world today, one stands apart from the rest. Indeed, the negative impact that Muslim terrorists and Al Queda extremists have on the world is truly appalling. The word Al Queda means “base” in Arabic because this organization is the central base for many Muslim terrorist groups to gather together. Established by Osama Bin Laden, Al-Queda allows other extremists to become members of the base and then share benefits like resources, training, and intelligence with each other to grow and become more powerful as a result. The terrorist activities they execute mainly occur in America and Western Europe. Examples of such horrible doings in recent history are the subway bombing in England, the train bombing in Madrid, and of course, the September 11th catastrophe. Indeed, these tragedies traumatized many of the people who witnessed or simply heard about the event. The constant paranoia about terrorism instills fear in many people and can cause both mental and physical distress when thinking about the issue.

Essentially, Al Queda’s prime objective is the destruction of the West and Western values (i.e. democracy, equality), and replacing these with a form of Islamic government headed by a caliph. Headed by Osama Bin Laden, the Al Queda terrorist group runs similar to a corporation in the sense that different bases are set up to train terrorists in various Islamic countries to carry out terrorism.  Some of these trainees go back to their native Islamic countries to expand and maintain their Al Queda branch while also recruiting others to join in their cause. On the other hand, some trainees are sent to select Western countries (like the United States, United Kingdom) as “sleeper cells” who act like commoners while waiting for a mission from Al-Queda in hopes of eventually sacrificing themselves for God, or Allah.

There is also an economic downside to terrorism. Due to the possibility that people begin to alter their everyday habits because of the fear of terrorism, some businesses will likely decline. For instance, due to the September 11th tragedy many people stayed away from plane travel and instead chose to different forms of transportation to reach their destinations. Thus, some airplane companies, like United Airlines, filed bankruptcy due to lack of customers. Another prime example of economic downfall could be seen restaurants in Israel. The suicide bombings that are conducted by the Hamas (an Islamic terrorist group, yet to join Al Queda) have many Israeli citizens staying away from restaurants, disco clubs, and other crowed areas due to the fear of bombings and other terrorist actions.

To resolve this international crisis, the Middle East needs to be exposed to the rest of the world. By doing so, the world would be able to understand more about the different countries and their cultures. This can be achieved through the United Nations and other groups and committees that share the same interest. Today, in numerous Muslim countries, ignorance has led many to believe the unethical words of Osama Bin Laden, who stated that the people in Western Civilizations are "non-believers of God, and they live in a decadent society". By saying this, Osama Bin Laden has essentially turned the people against the West while supporting attacks against them. However, if these people had been exposed to the truth of the world, they would likely have a different, and quite possibly, an opposing view of terrorist actions. If theses proposals were in place, then a key crisis in the world would be one step closer to being resolved. Moreover, the world would be one step closer to protecting the good of mankind from terrorists and Muslim extremist groups like Al Queda.
