As there are many conflicts in our world today and many problematic regions are facing war-threats, I believe we need a new peace movement: Peace Messengers (PM). There should be at least one PM in every city and minimum 100 in every country. Any person between 14 and 100 years can become a PM, yet there will be a hierarchy according to the volunteer’s experience. However, they should all have the right to vote at their monthly meetings. Besides these meetings, PM will keep contact by emails and special mobile phones. These special mobile phones will allow them to send 24/24 hours messages of peace and friendship in every corner of the world, which will be posted on giant screens placed in the center of every capital. Before posting them, a special PM team will check these messages.

PM will fight for disarmament, tolerance and cooperation between nations. They will receive the help of international organizations (like UN), mass-media and NGO`s.

They will have the right to denounce their government and ask for an international inquiry at the International Committee for Peace on Earth (ICPE).

The authorities should meet PM and listen to their proposals.

Peace Celebration will be held every year, for one day, at a different date, for every country. When the dances, music and competitions will end in one country, they will start the next day in a near-by country, the Peace Torch being thus transferred from one capital to another. All the celebrations could be seen on the giant screens from every capital. So, theoretically, if there is no war, every day of the year in some country there will be a Peace Celebration.

In the case of war threat, PM will follow these steps: (1) they will meet at national level and vote an action plan (2) they will discuss (possibly by video-conference) with PM’s from other countries and work together for finding peaceful solutions (3) they will meet the Government and its members will have the obligation (established by law) to consider their suggestions and do everything to avoid war.

In case of war, PM will raise funds and needed things for the affected countries, and organize protests all over the world. PM from the countries in war will broadcast non-stop live war images on the giant screens so that everybody around the world could see what’s happening. They will also vote for a leader who, in case of war, will become by law the Minister of Peace, full member of the Government, with the single mission and duty to end war. The international airlines should offer free tickets for the refugees who, after crossing the border, would like to fly to another country, no matter the distance. Every country of the world should build a shelter and be ready to take care of a number of refugees from any continent.

Any PM or motivated volunteer can participate to the reconstruction of a country affected by war. Every country of the world will choose a field of development and will contribute with funds and volunteers, focusing only on that specific issue (e.g. education, health, poverty, etc.).Thus, the country’s reconstruction will be faster and more directed. Firms all over the world will compete for offering the cheapest needed materials: from construction materials like wood or brick, to silver and gold, there will be offers for everything, so that the affected country could choose the best variant at the best price.

International airlines should assure free transport of the humanitarian aids and of organized groups of volunteers.

Apart from donating and volunteering abroad, individuals should also find assignments on the internet: virtual teachers for children who had their schools destroyed (children will study online with teachers all over the world), offering medical, psychological or simply emotional support for war victims, and participating in “project contests”. These “project contests” will search cheap and fast solutions for certain reconstruction plans, there will be different categories and fields (e.g. rebuilding the capital<official buildings<proposals for a new town hall) and will be opened to firms, experts and non-specialists .Anyone should be able to post an original idea or help finding solutions by discussing with other people on special forums and chat rooms.

As a symbol of hope and solidarity, everyone should also send a little plant from his/her country, a specific flower or a seedling tree, so that people will understand the war has ended and that the world will help them rebuild   their country.

With these simple suggestions in place, and by creating a new international body called the Peace Messengers, it is my firm belief that we can truly make this world a better place.
